Pisistratus (Πεισίστρατος Peisistratos; c. 600 – 527 B.C.E) ruler Athens during the period between 561 and 527 BC, known for unification of Attica, his legacy lies primarily in his institution of the Panathenaic Games, championing of the lower class of Athens is an early populism. However, Hipparchus was the only one assassinated. Hippias was the actual leader of Athens, remaining in power for another four years. During this time, Hippias became more paranoid and oppressive in his actions, killing many of the Athenian citizens.
